SlideFrame Privacy Policy

Overview

SlideFrame is a photo slideshow app for iPhone and iPad, with a Home Screen widget on both. Your privacy is fundamental to how this app is built. SlideFrame has no servers and does not collect any personal data. The app operates on your device using Apple's built-in privacy protections.

Data Collection

SlideFrame does not collect any data. Specifically:

- No personal information is collected

- No usage analytics or tracking

- No advertising or ad identifiers

- No cookies or web tracking

- No third-party SDKs or services

Photo Library Access

SlideFrame requests access to your photo library to display your photos and videos in the app and Home Screen widget. Your photos and videos are never copied or transmitted to SlideFrame. All processing happens on your device.

On-Device Intelligence

Some features — such as Search, Memories, and smart organization — analyze your photos and videos to understand what they contain (for example, scenes, objects, and places) so you can find and browse them. This content analysis runs entirely on your device using models that are bundled inside the app.

- Your photos and videos, and the data derived from them (such as the on-device search index), never leave your device. They are not uploaded, not sent to SlideFrame, and not sent to the creators of the bundled models or any other third party.

- The bundled models are fixed and pre-trained. SlideFrame does not train or improve any model using your content — nothing you do teaches the model, and nothing is sent anywhere to be learned from.

- This content analysis requires no internet connection and works fully offline.

- Turning a photo's location into a readable place name (for the Places and Memories features) uses a place-name database that is bundled in the app and works offline. When that offline data can't resolve a name, SlideFrame may fall back to Apple's Maps service — see "Network Access" below. Only the coordinate is ever involved; the photo itself is never sent anywhere.

Music Library Access

SlideFrame requests access to your music library solely to play audio during slideshows. Your music is played locally on your device and is never copied or transmitted.

Microphone & Voice Search

SlideFrame can search your library by voice. The microphone is used only while you are actively dictating a search, and audio is never stored or sent to SlideFrame.

- Transcription runs on your device whenever your device and language support on-device speech recognition.

- If on-device transcription is not available for your language, iOS may send the audio to Apple to transcribe it. This is handled by Apple and governed by Apple's privacy policy.

- SlideFrame never records, saves, or transmits audio itself.

iCloud Sync

SlideFrame uses Apple's iCloud (iCloud key-value storage, and CloudKit) to sync your album-organization data to your private iCloud so it can follow you across your own devices. This sync data is stored only in your own private iCloud, tied to your Apple ID.

- SlideFrame has no servers. The sync data is accessible only to you through your Apple ID.

- The data consists of opaque identifiers that map albums to photos, plus your app preferences. No photos, no videos, and no album names are uploaded by SlideFrame.

- No third party, including SlideFrame's developer, can access your iCloud data.

- This data is automatically removed when you delete the app or sign out of iCloud.

Network Access

SlideFrame has no servers of its own and never sends your personal data, photos, or videos anywhere. The app connects only to Apple, for:

- iCloud sync of album-organization data to your own private iCloud, as described above.

- Apple Music: if you connect Apple Music, playback and album artwork are provided by Apple through MusicKit. This use is governed by your Apple Music subscription and Apple's privacy policy.

- Apple Maps: to label places and trips, SlideFrame may ask Apple's Maps service to convert a photo's location coordinates into a readable place name. Only the coordinate is sent — never the photo — and this is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

- Speech recognition: as described under "Microphone & Voice Search," if your device cannot transcribe a voice search on-device, iOS may send that audio to Apple.

- App update check: SlideFrame asks the public App Store whether a newer version is available, so it can let you know inside the app and offer a quick link to update. Only SlideFrame's app identifier is sent; no personal information is included.

The app connects to no other servers, and uses no analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind.

Data Storage

SlideFrame stores small preferences locally on your device, including your selected album, current photo position, and slideshow settings such as speed, shuffle, and zoom. These preferences are stored using standard iOS storage and are never shared externally.

Third-Party Services

SlideFrame does not use any third-party services, analytics platforms, crash reporters, or advertising networks. The app does include a small number of open-source components that are bundled and run entirely on your device, sending nothing anywhere: Google's SigLIP model (Apache License 2.0), used for on-device photo search, and GeoNames place-name data (Creative Commons Attribution 4.0), used to label places offline. These are credited in the app under About > Acknowledgments.

Children's Privacy

SlideFrame does not collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to This Policy
